Plants, Foliage and Flowers!

Plants, Foliage and Flowers

Here at Love 2 Learn Nursery, our pedagogy and approach, comes with influences from many great men and women.

One in particular, emphasised the importance on connecting with nature, at every available chance - Rudolf Steiner

For us nature and plants are SO much more than sticking them aimlessly around the children’s environment.

Each and every Fern, Ivy, Spider Plant and even leaf has a purpose.

Nature becomes as important in the indoor environment, as it is outdoors.

Let’s face it, no one ever picked up a plastic plant and thought of its beautiful smell or texture, they don’t need to be handled with care or nurtured.

This is what real plants, foliage and flowers add to the children’s environment.

“People must feel that the natural world is important, and valuable and, beautiful and, wonderful and, an amazement and, a pleasure” - David Attenborough

To ensure the children who we care for, are supported to see the beauty in their environment, with opportunities for amazement, we ensure our environments are rich with natural wonders.

Invitations to play, are extended with nature!

Real vines, leaves and flower heads are used in play, ready to investigate and explore.

Nature is amazing, especially for little hands, flower heads must be handled with care, or they break, house plants need to be watered or they perish, seeds need to be planted, before they can grow!

These are the important things nature teaches us all!

The things that help us to understand how to be caring and nurturing.

Child smelling flowers

A top tip for bringing nature indoors!

Visit your local florist, they usually have off cuts or stems, destined for the bin.

Ones that little hands would love to explore.
